Pattaya —

A public-spirited man in Pattaya used his metal detector to find a lost gold necklace for a tourist at a Pattaya area beach on Wednesday, July 5th.

Social media users praised a local Pattaya man known as Mr. Kwanchai Aksornsri (64) for retrieving a lost gold necklace for an unnamed tourist vacationing at Pattaya Beach.

The story was originally shared on the Facebook page of the Pattaya mayor, and it received thousands of likes from netizens.

According to the report, Kwanchai was a regular visitor to the beach, as he liked chasing buried treasures with his trusted metal detector.

On Wednesday, he was looking for any potential treasure as usual when he was approached by a desperate tourist, who asked him to find the lost gold necklace that they lost at the beach.

Without asking anything in return, Kwanchai jumped right into action and began using his detector to find the lost gold jewelry. After only 5 minutes, he found a one-baht-weight gold necklace buried in the sand of Pattaya Beach. He then gave it back to the tourist who gratefully thanked him in return.

Kwanchai revealed to local media that he had been beach-metal-detecting for 30 years, and mostly found 5 or 10 baht coins. He cautioned beachgoers and tourists to be careful when wearing valuable items while swimming or engaging in activities on the beach.
