Pattaya —
Two Thai men stole a large front gate from a house in Pattaya and got arrested shortly later.
The incident took place at a house within the Huay Yai sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi. At 12 PM on July 4th, two men were captured by CCTV cameras as they drove into a village on a motorbike and stole a large steel gate from the house.
The brazen thieves committed the crime in broad daylight. They even then took out a measuring tape to measure the size of the steel gate before using cutting equipment to remove the padlock. They then lifted the gate, which weighed nearly 50 kilograms, onto their motorbike sidecar and fled the scene.
Homeowner Mr. Sanchai Homchuen told local media he filed a report to Huay Yai police shortly after the incident. Luckily, the police were able to quickly apprehend the two suspects identified as Mr. Kamolchai Sanoi, 30, and Mr. Pongpat Kerdpa, 28.
The culprits admitted that they sold the gate as scrap metal for only 380 baht. They claimed they were poor and needed the money.
The police charged the two men for theft using a motorbike as a getaway vehicle. They were in police custody as of press time.
