Man Steals Items from Pattaya Temple After Seeking Food and Shelter

Pattaya —

A man who had been relying on a Pattaya temple for food stole items and a motorcycle from the temple and fled.

The temple in question is locally known as Wat Nong Yai located in Pattaya City, Chonburi province.

During an interview with the abbot of Wat Nong Yai, The Pattaya News learned that the culprit had entered the temple seeking shelter and food. The temple then provided him with accommodation and meals and also allowed him to stay for several days, before he suddenly disappeared with temple property including construction tools and an old motorbike.

The suspect had been sleeping near the restroom inside the temple for 2-3 days and had repeatedly requested money from the monks, according to the abbot. He said he did not know the name of the suspect.

The abbot pleaded with the police to catch the suspect as urgently as possible.

This isn’t the first despicable act of theft recently as a Na Jomtien thief broke into a rental room and stole a child’s piggy banks earlier this week.
