Unidentified Foreigner Injured When a Large Tree Suddenly Falls at Bottom of Soi Pratumnak 5

Pattaya, Thailand –

An unidentified foreign man was injured this morning around 6:45 A.M., July 3rd, 2023, when a tree suddenly fell on him as he sat at the bottom of Soi Pratumnak 5 near a convenience store.

The man, who appeared to be Caucasian and in his 60s or early 70s, had been sitting nearby the tree and convenience store when witnesses stated that a gust of wind caused the large tree to suddenly fall, landing partially on top of him.

Witnesses, who asked for their names to be withheld, said it took a car jack to raise the tree off of the man who was partially pinned by the fallen tree. The man was taken via ambulance to a hospital nearby although he appeared cognizant and aware. His condition was unknown but appeared to be non-life threatening. Multiple Good Samaritans from motorbike taxi drivers to nearby tourists to convenience store employees helped rescue the man from under the tree.

It was not immediately clear if there would be any accountability, ownership, or responsibility around the fallen tree landing on an innocent bystander. As of early afternoon the fallen tree had been removed and the area cleaned. Photo credit Stephen B. And Michael B.
