Body of Australian Man Found Floating in the Krabi Sea

The body of a 58-year-old Australian man was found floating in the sea at Ao Nang.

The Ao Nang Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified by a staffer at the Hat Nopparat Thara Mu-Ko Phi Phi National Park about the shocking incident on Monday morning (July 3rd). A local fisherman first found the body.

They and the Krabi Marine Police arrived at the scene to find the male body. No wounds were found on him and police believe that the man had died at least six hours before his body was found.

A passport and a hotel card were found in a bag that the man was carrying. The body was later identified by police as a 58-year-old Australian man, whose name was withheld by TPN media pending family and embassy contact. He had stayed in Krabi since June 28th of last month and was due to return back to his country on Monday (July 3rd). The Phuket Express is withholding his name pending embassy and family notification.

The circumstances leading to his death are still under official review.

This is not the first deceased body found floating recently in Krabi, the Australian man makes three in a few weeks.

A male body missing both his head and hands has been found floating near the Phi Phi Islands in Krabi.

A body was reportedly found floating near an island in Krabi but as of press time officials have failed to recover the deceased.
