Hotel Rooftop Sauna in Pattaya Bursts into Flames, No Injuries

Pattaya —

A hotel’s rooftop sauna in Pattaya suddenly went up in flames at 10 PM yesterday, June 24th. The hotel staff alleged the sauna room in question was under renovation with a sign prohibiting entry; however, some guests secretly used the room, leading to the sudden blaze.

The incident occurred at a hotel in Soi Arunothai within the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The Pattaya News has withheld the name of the hotel from publication pending a further investigation by fire department officials.

A large fire was spotted engulfing the sauna room on the hotel’s 8th floor rooftop, which is a mixed area of a sauna room, fitness center, and sunbathing space. Police officers, firefighter units, security personnel, and hotel staff worked together to extinguish the raging flames using chemical extinguishers and water spray. Some hotel guests also joined in the effort by splashing water onto the fire.

After the blaze was finally quenched, authorities found that both the sauna room and the adjacent fitness center sustained significant damage. The hotel’s security guards told police that they noticed smoke rising from the sauna room while monitoring CCTV cameras.

They then ascended to the rooftop to check and call others for assistance.

Meanwhile, the hotel staff revealed that the sauna room, where the fire broke out, was closed for renovation with a clear sign forbidding entry. However, prior to the incident, there were some guests who snuck into the room to use it, which possibly led to the fire outbreak, the staff claimed.

Authorities are assessing the damage and attempting to find the exact cause of the incident.
