Transgender Pickpocket in Pattaya Swipes Expensive Gold Necklace from Turkish Tourist

Pattaya —

A Turkish tourist walking alone on Pattaya Beach early this morning reported being pickpocketed of a 25,000-baht gold necklace by a transgender suspect. The man revealed he often watched news about this crime and was vigilant; however, he fell victim to the skilled hands of the thief.

The 50-year-old victim, Mr. Mehmet Okur Ayadin, of Turkish nationality, was found by reporters waiting to give his testimony to the Pattaya Police on Beach Road.

He said the incident happened around 4 AM today, June 18th. While he was walking along Pattaya Beach enjoying the view and breeze from the sea, he was approached by a person who he described as a transgender.

The suspect walked up to Mr. Mehmet and offered sexual services, to which he declined. The Turkish tourist then pushed the suspect away after they tried to hug and touch him.

After the suspect was gone, however, Mr. Mehmet realized that a gold necklace which he was wearing had disappeared from his neck. He suspected that the transgender person may have taken it. The stolen gold necklace was worth over 25,000 baht, according to Mr. Mehmet.

He also revealed that he often watched news about this crime on social media and always stayed vigilant when walking alone outside; nevertheless, he found himself a victim of the very act he had sought to prevent.

Pattaya Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident to track down the transgender thief. The Pattaya News notes that this is not the first time that a foreign tourist falls victim to a gold necklace thief.

On May 23rd, a Russian couple retrieved their stolen gold necklace after the police managed to catch the suspect that took it from them.

There have also been other arrests and Pattaya Police have frequently warned tourists not to flash expensive jewelry while strolling outside late at night.
