Sedan Crashes into Streetlight in Chonburi Before Bursting into Flames, Driver and Passenger Survive

Chonburi —

A sedan crashed into a streetlight on a median strip at a Chonburi bypass before bursting into flames today, June 18th. The driver and his passenger, however, miraculously survived the accident.

Sawang Boriboon rescuers responded to a traffic accident reported at 5 AM today on a Pattaya-Rayong bypass within the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

At the accident scene, a bronze Honda City sedan was found to have collided with a streetlight pole, causing the pole to collapse. The car had then plunged into the median strip, and a fierce fire broke out in the vehicle, with two unidentified people trapped inside.

However, good Samaritans at the scene rescued the two victims out of the car in time before they sustained any serious harm. The rescue team then rushed them to a nearby hospital to examine their injuries.

In an interview with an eyewitness, Mr. Nico Songserm, 37, he heard the sound of a car colliding with a streetlight. There was a fire blazing in the car, so he quickly ran to help and found two injured individuals who he said seemed to be intoxicated and unconscious inside the car. He removed them from the vehicle before the fire intensified.

Another witness, Mr. Siripong Sucher, 27, a water truck driver, said he happened to pass by the incident scene and stopped his vehicle. He used the water from his truck to extinguish the flames.

As for the two injured individuals, their names were later identified as brothers, Mr. Anukit Yotkiri, 28, the driver, and Mr. Anusorn Yotkiri, 29. They remained unaware of the situation, speaking incoherently, and had sustained various injuries throughout their bodies. They are currently under medical care.
