Pattaya Husband Guns Down Wife in Front of His Children For Chatting With Other Men Online

Pattaya —

A Thai husband in Pattaya gunned down his wife for reportedly chatting with another man on social media. The horrible incident happened in front of their young children.

Pattaya Police and rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to a house in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province, after being notified of the sounds of gunshots at 8 PM yesterday, June 11th.

At the scene of the incident, authorities apprehended the suspect, Mr. Manit Charoenpoo, a 30-year-old tattoo artist, at the front gate of his residence. He was arrested on suspicions that he had gunned down his wife, Ms. Jutathip Chinfan, 28, who was consequently found lying lifelessly in a kitchen in a pool of blood. She had sustained two gunshot wounds to the neck.

Mr. Manit was arrested while crying and hugging his two young sons, aged 7 and 11 years old. Police found near the deceased woman one .9mm bullet casing and seized from the suspect a .9mm CZ pistol and four rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

According to Mr. Manit’s confession, he had been in a relationship with his wife for over 10 years, but they had constant conflicts and arguments. They eventually separated but later decided to reconcile and live together again because he didn’t want their two sons to grow up in a broken family.

However, things didn’t turn out as Mr. Manit had hoped when he discovered that his wife had reportedly messaged with another man. When he confronted her about it, the wife tried to escape but accidentally dropped her mobile phone. While picking it up, Mr. Manit saw pictures of his wife with another man posted on social media, which sparked another bitter argument. In a fit of rage, he grabbed the firearm he had recently purchased and shot his wife dead with his 7-year-old son present at the horrific scene.

Manit contemplated taking his own life after the shooting. However, he said when he turned around and saw his son’s face, he changed his mind, put the gun away, and hugged his son, both crying. It was at this point that the authorities arrived and took control of Manit.

The forensic team revealed to The Pattaya News that one bullet penetrated the victim’s head while the other went through her neck. As for the firearm used, it was legally purchased and registered under the name of the deceased, who had no prior criminal record.

The husband was taken into police custody. Relevant officials were contacting the children’s other relatives to take care of them.
