Two Young Russian Nationals Die in Car Wreck After Car Accident in Pattaya

Pattaya —

Two Russian tourists, one was an 18-year-old female, were found deceased in a car wreck following a tragic early morning car accident in Pattaya.

The accident took place on Sukhumvit Road, inbound towards Sattahip district, adjacent to Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 87 within the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, Pattaya Police and Sawang Boriboon rescuers rushed to the scene at 05:00 AM today, June 11th.

At the scene, authorities found a Bangkok-registered Toyota Altis sedan had crashed into a palm tree on the median strip. The tree was toppled down, and the car was badly damaged with its parts scattered all over both sides of the road.

Inside the sedan, authorities discovered two trapped victims identified later as, Ms. Valeriia Khimich, 18, and Mr. Gleb Solovel, 23. The 18-year-old was in the driver’s seat and the 23-year-old was in the passenger’s seat. Both were Russian.

Rescuers forced open the car with hydraulic jacks and freed the two victims, who were then still alive, out of the wreck. However, they later died from serious injuries.

The deceased were transferred to a local hospital where their embassy and relatives were contacted and final preparations for funeral arrangements will be made.

Pattaya Police were checking CCTV footage of the accident to establish the exact cause of the collision. There were no eyewitnesses to the incident but based on the impact damage of the vehicle police and rescue workers at the scene of the accident believed speed was a factor.
