Bangkok Police Seize One Million Baht Worth of Sex Toys

Bangkok —

Bangkok Police busted three alleged sex toy sellers and seized from them one million baht worth of sex toys last Friday, May 12th.

The three suspects, identified only as Mr. Tanayong, 29, Ms. Kanree, 27, and Ms. Ilda ,32, were arrested at their residence at the Foresta Village in Bangkok’s Nong Chok district on Friday. Their surnames were withheld by police pending legal process.

According to police reports, police seized 1,066 pieces of various types of sex toys worth over 1 million baht at the suspects’ residence. The arrested allegedly operated an online sex-toy shop and sold the obscene items through various agents via unreported online platforms. In return, the agents would receive a 50% commission for their sales.

The Pattaya News notes that sex toys are still illegal in Thailand, although some political parties have discussed legalizing them like here.

Police said most of the sex toys were smuggled from China. Ms. Kanree was reportedly responsible for ordering the products, while Ms. Ilda was in charge of managing their Facebook page, police said.

All three of them will be prosecuted for violating criminal law related to “trading in illicit substances or goods, and aiding in concealing and distributing illicit substances.” They will also face charges under the Customs Act and the Consumer Protection Act, according to Bangkok Police.
