Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens celebrated the birth of the second elephant calf of 2023 today, April 20th.
Park Director Kampol Tansajja held a blessing ceremony today to welcome the coming of a new baby jumbo elephant named “Plai Shy”.
The pachyderm was born at 3:05 AM on April 9th, 2023, to mother elephant “Pang Yok”, 15, and “Plai Ningnong”, 28. It is the second elephant born at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens in 2023.
Plai Shy received flower garlands and blessings from Phra Kittisophon, the abbot of Wat Samakeebanpot who was invited to the park by the Mr. Kampol. The baby jumbo was then welcomed by 50 elephants which performed a dancing parade for good fortune and longevity.
The elephant calf and its mother were reported to be in good health
