Chonburi —

A Thai man crashed his motorbike and passed away after drinking beer with friends in Chonburi, marking the first casualty for the province’s Seven Dangerous Days road-safety campaign.

Local rescuers responded to a traffic accident report on a bridge in the Bang Sai sub-district, Mueang district, Chonburi at 03:40 AM yesterday, April 11st.

A Thai man only identified as Mr. Yodpetch, 22, was found deceased beside his motorbike. The victim had suffered a fatal head injury. A blood stain and human hair were found stuck on the bridge’s concrete railing.

Chonburi Police suspected that the man may have failed to navigate a curve and plowed his motorbike into a railing before hitting his head. The officers then contacted the victim’s sibling’s friend who said the victim had just drunk beer with him and left for a ride.

The friend, who asked the media not to reveal his name, stated that he then heard a rescuers’ vehicle siren and was shocked to learn that Mr. Yodpetch had crashed his motorbike and passed away.

Local media reported that the man is Chonburi’s first casualty of the Seven Dangerous Days road-safety campaign of Songkran festival.
