Pattaya Motorcyclist Rear-ends 18-Wheeler in Fatal Accident

A 38-year-old man fatally rear-ended a truck in Pattaya’s Banglamung district at 3 AM this morning, March 19th.

The crash occurred in front of a Makro store in South Pattaya on Sukhumvit Road inbound to Pattaya, Pol. Capt. Sanan Kotanon, deputy investigation chief at Pattaya, told The Pattaya News.

Police and Sawang Boriboon rescue workers who rushed to the scene found a crashed red Honda Wave motorbike on the road beside an 18-wheeler with Prachuap Khiri Khan license plates.

A Thai motorcyclist, 38-year-old Mr. Chinawat Chaichum, was killed on the spot. The victim suffered severe head injuries and heavy bleeding. The man’s body was transported to a nearby hospital. Police questioned the truck driver, 56-year-old Mr. Chalong Chuklin, who was waiting at the scene.

Chalong told The Pattaya News he was delivering goods to the Makro store and was turning the truck into the store when he heard a loud sound like something hitting the back of his truck. He stopped and went to check, and found that a motorcycle had rear-ended his truck. Chalong said there was a person injured and unconscious, lying in a pool of blood, so he quickly contacted the authorities.

Pattaya Police are examining CCTV footage that recorded the accident to find the exact cause.
