Walking Street Business Owners and City Officials Hold Major Meeting About Various Issues

Pattaya, Thailand-

A meeting was held on Walking Street this evening, March 14th, 2023 between Pattaya City Police, City Hall officials, and business owners.

The city is planning to reduce the number of motorcycle taxi drivers in the actual street and move them to nearby areas, citing complaints of too many still driving in pedestrian areas.

Garbage trucks will also collect garbage nightly at 3am and cooperation is expected with business owners.

Additional topics were complaints about aggressive hawkers promoting certain shows through flyers to tourists, too many staff motorbikes parked on nearby alleys, and public smoking, although immediate solutions were not given for either issue.

The ongoing discussion around changing signs on the street to make them smaller and flat against the walls of buildings was not brought up at this meeting. The city has been trying to resolve many minor issues recently on Walking Street as the number of tourists returning to the area continues.

Pattaya City officials were especially concerned about having all the minor issues resolved before large tour groups of Chinese return, who have already started to return in smaller numbers.
