Motorcyclist Driving in Wrong Direction Hit Head-On and Killed in Sri Racha

A Thai man met his unfortunate demise after he was crashed head-on by a pickup while driving against traffic on Tuesday, January 24th.

At 11:30 AM, Nongkham Police were alerted to the accident at the Bueng sub-district of Sri Racha district and rushed to the scene with the Sri Racha rescue unit.

The team arrived at a one-way road with three lanes. They found the victim lying deceased in the right lane. The victim was later identified by police as 71-year-old Mr. Somjai Kamsui, a Chonburi native.

He was found lying upwards with severe wounds and bleeding. The rescuers covered his body with a white sheet and transported it to a nearby hospital.

Mr. Somjai’s Honda Wave motorbike was destroyed after it had been hit by a white Toyota pickup. The pickup driver, Mr. Worawit Kriengkrai, waited at the scene to give his statement to the police.

The 27-year-old driver claimed that he was driving normally when he came across the victim who was driving in the wrong direction of traffic. He said that he could not make an emergency brake and crashed into the victim, killing him instantly.

The driver was taken to the police station for further questioning.
