Tourism Authority of Thailand holds campaign to bring more Taiwanese tourists to Pattaya

Pattaya —

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has partnered with Tiger Airline to launch the “Fresh Up Chonburi Family Destination” campaign as part of the “Amazing Thailand New Chapters Trade Meet Taiwan Market” initiative in Pattaya.

The event, held on December 17th at Hilton Hotel, aimed to strengthen the tourism industry and enhance the attractiveness of Pattaya as a perfect tourist destination, focusing on Taiwanese tourists.

The event provided business matching and networking opportunities for online travel agencies and local tourism businesses in Pattaya and Chonburi. According to the Director of the TAT Taipei office, Ms. Duanjai Kanthiranon, the number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Thailand dropped drastically from 679,145 in 2018 to only 7,976 in 2021 due to the pandemic.

However with many lifted restrictions, over 50,744 Taiwanese tourists have traveled to Thailand already from January to October this year, said Duanjai.

By connecting these stakeholders, it is hoped that the event will help bring more Taiwanese tourists to Thailand in the future.
