Pattaya —
A 74-year-old British pedestrian suffered multiple injuries in a hit-and-run incident with a pickup truck on a Pattaya crosswalk. The pickup truck driver is still on the run.
The victim, Mr. Peter Palmer, asked Thai reporters to spread his story so that he could find the reckless driver who crashed into him while crossing Jomtien Second Road in Pattaya on Monday, November 28th.
Palmer, a 74-year-old British tourist, told Thai media he was waiting for a green light at a crosswalk in the morning. However, when the green light had about 12 seconds left and he was halfway over the the crosswalk, a white Isuzu D-Max pickup truck ignored the green light and suddenly rammed into him and raced away.
A CCTV camera at the crosswalk showed Palmer was flung into the air before landing on the ground. He was aided by nearby good Samaritans and taken to a hospital where he had four stitches given to his head wound. Palmer said he was still waiting for X-ray results for his head.
The British victim spread his words via Thai media that he wanted the driver who hit him to surrender themselves to the police and take responsibility for what had happened to him. The motorists should be more careful of pedestrians, Palmer said.
For now, Palmer would file a complaint at the Pattaya police station with a CCTV recording of him getting hit by a pickup truck as evidence.
