Pattaya —

Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches came out to warn those who planned to play fireworks or sky lanterns during the upcoming Loy Krathong Day on November 8th.

The mayor stated that the event’s goal was to promote traditional tourism on an international scale and to encourage the young generations to preserve Thailand’s unique and beautiful tradition.

The event would be held on Central Pattaya Beach, featuring concerts from local bands, street food markets, and floating Krathongs (banana tree trunks decorated with flowers). Poramase said all Krathongs should be made from natural materials so that they could be easily eliminated and would not pollute the water sources.

In addition, the mayor asked for cooperation to not play fireworks and sky lanterns because it was against the law and could harm other people’s properties.
