Pattaya-
Starting tomorrow, Saturday October 22nd, is a three day holiday weekend in Thailand as Monday is a national holiday.
Sunday, October 23rd is King Chulalongkorn day, or Rama V. However, the observed day will be Monday, October 24th. Government offices, including Immigration, will be closed this day and for many it is a day off. For more about this holiday click here.
Also Monday, but not part of the Thai holidays, is Diwali (or Deepavali), for many Indians and those who are Hindu, Jain, or Sikh one of if not the biggest holiday of the year. This day is sure to see Indian themed restaurants and clubs packed with excited Indian tourists as well as Indian expats and Thai-Indians. There will also be many religious ceremonies and events by those who mark this day across Thailand. For more about Diwali click here.
Due to the holidays many business owners are betting big on domestic and international tourism. There are also two food festivals this weekend, as seen in the photos in this article taken by Adam Judd, at Central Mall and Terminal 21.
As long as the weather can stay favorable, it could be a big weekend for Pattaya. Of course, permanent Pattaya residents should be aware that with holidays and festivals traffic will likely be slow and difficult across the area.
Have a great holiday to those who celebrate the events this weekend!
