An antique mortar grenade was found buried underground in Chonburi today, September 23rd, and police suspected it might belong to a collector.
Explosive ordnance disposal police went to the Sra Seeriam subdistrict of the Phanat Nikom district in Chonburi after getting a report that a mortar grenade had been discovered inside a box buried underground.
The grenade was found kept inside a wooden box. The unidentified tractor driver who found the device said that he stumbled upon the bomb while digging a pond and was lucky he did not drive over it.
The bomb could have been discarded by a collector who was afraid of being caught, police said. The antique bomb was removed from the scene and would be eliminated in a safe area.
