A Thai man’s body was found in his residence while being closely guarded by his pet dog.

Residents of Pornthep Village 7 said they could smell a stench floating from inside the house Number 99/5. The police and rescue workers then broke the door down and followed the smell to the bedroom to find a human corpse lying facedown in a bed.

The male body was naked and believed to have died about a week ago. Heartbreakingly, police officers also found a tiny pet dog sitting beside the body, seemingly guarding its owner. The dog was protective and barked at rescue teams who eventually managed to safely move the dog away without injuries to the animal or rescue staff.

After searching the room, police came across a pill bag with the name Mr. Somkid Wannasud, 48. It was still unclear, however, if the body belonged to Mr. Somkid or not. As of now, the body was in the care of Banglamung Hospital pending an identification process.

The pet dog is safe, according to rescue staff, although the exact location was not made immediately clear to the media.
