Aeroflot flights from Russia to resume to Phuket

Phuket –

Flights from Aeroflot Airlines in Russia will be resumed to Phuket in this coming October.

The Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, “Direct flights daily from Moscow to Phuket will be resumed on October 30th this year after flights have been paused since March this year.”

“This is a good chance to welcome more Russian tourists who will visit Phuket and Thailand. We are expecting at least 50 percent of Russian tourists to arrive compared to before Covid-19. This reopening is in Russia during winter, so they are more likely to visit Thailand than in other seasons,” Mr. Yuthasak explained.

“Since the beginning of this year, there have been  76,739 Russian tourists that have visited Thailand. We were originally expecting one million Russian tourists this year but the war caused significant disruption to flights and many Russian tourists also had issues with finances and insurance as a result of sanctions.” Mr. Yuthasak added.

Thailand is officially “neutral” in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
