Foreign motorcycle rider instantly killed after crashing into electric pole at intersection in Pattaya this morning

Banglamung, Chonburi –

A foreigner was instantly killed after riding a motorcycle and crashing into an electric pole at an intersection in the Nong Prue subdistrict of Banglamung district in the early hours of this morning, July 31st.

Pattaya City officials and rescue volunteers arrived at the scene at the Matchanu intersection after being notified of the incident around 3:30 AM. on Sunday.

There, a white motorcycle with a Chonburi license plate was found on the footpath. There were long skid marks from the road median, the middle of the road, the intersection, the electric pole, and the footpath next to the pole.

The 54-year-old rider was identified as a local ex-pat with a Thai drivers license but his identity was withheld by TPN media as it was not clear if family and his embassy had yet been reached. He was found dead by the time the officials arrived. A gold necklace and a total of 10,900 baht in cash were found on the body. The man had not been wearing a motorcycle helmet.

According to initial inquiries, no one had witnessed the tragic event at the time. The police then continued to examine the CCTV surveillance to seek the exact cause of the accident.
