Drunk female driver topples electric pole, causing power outage in Pattaya area

A drunk female driver toppled an electric poll in Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man in Pattaya, reportedly causing a temporary power outage and upsetting residents.

Rescues workers responded to a car accident in Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man in the Nongprue subdistrict of Banglamung at 6:30 PM on Sunday, July 24th.

According to reports, a female passenger Nipaporn Namchantuk, 31, was found beside a car that slammed into an electric poll, toppling it across the road. Nipaporn sustained a minor leg injury and was taken to a hospital for a medical examination.

As for the driver, Somphon Van Hoy Klem, 55, she was reportedly heavily intoxicated and kept yelling at the rescuers. She also caused an alley-wide power outage from the broken electric poll, which outraged certain residents. When asked if she recalled the accident, Somphon replied “No” and claimed the accident wasn’t her fault.

As of press time, the driver is going through legal proceedings, but it was not made immediately clear what legal charges the police will pursue against her.
