Sattahip hosts traditional lantern festival at Buddha Mountain (Khao Chi Chan)

Sattahip —

Another great traditional festival has recently passed by today, July 22nd, at Khao Chi Chan or more commonly known as the Buddha Mountain.

Many authorities and residents in the Jomtien subdistrict gathered in the morning to perform a religious ceremony at the Buddha Mountain in remembrance of King Bhumibol (Rama IX). The participants then helped sweep the area and clean the statue of Buddha before making a merit to offer to the deceased.

At 5 PM, a lantern parade, a Sattahip tradition that has been passed down through generations, collorfully lit up the area before the majestic Buddha Mountain, beautifully ending the first day of the event. But this is not over, another traditional play will be performed at the same location on July 23rd, and the authorities strongly encourage everyone to attend.
