Sri Racha —
A 32-year-old gold thief was arrested in Sri Racha for stealing an expensive gold necklace, claiming he needed money for his sick mom who was suffering from fourth-stage cancer.
Pol. Col. Sakchai Suwannukul, Chief of Police at the Sri Racha Police Station, escorted Anusorn Samerwong, a 32-year-old suspect who stole a gold necklace from a gold shop in the Surasak subdistrict of Sri Racha on July 20th, while he was undergoing a reenactment on the evening of the same day.
Anusorn was caught by police in less than four hours after the theft.
According to Chief Sakchai, the suspect walked into the shop and pretended to try on the necklace before dashing out the door and driving his red and white Honda Click motorcycle away. The suspect claimed that he intended no harm to the shop owner and merely wanted to sell the necklace to use the proceeds to cure his mother, who was suffering from stage-four cancer at home.
As of press time, the suspect is charged with theft and going through legal proceedings.
