The owner of a retail store Boonpluak Saengkaew, 60, told the officers that Mr. Richard was her usual customer. He liked to jog early in the morning and always visited her store.

Boonpluak believed the victim accidentally stumbled into a canal as he was stretching on a bridge. The tide also usually rose in the morning, which could have contributed to the accident, Boonpluak said.

The victim’s body was transported to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, as of press time.
