Cannabis-related business entrepreneurs must be a Thai national aged over 20 years old with no recent illegal drug case history, says Cannabis Special Committee

The Cannabis Special Committee has specified that cannabis-related business entrepreneurs must be Thai nationals aged 20 years old or above and have never been in prison for illegal drug cases.

Panthep Puaphongphan, a spokesperson of the Special Committee, told the Associated Press after a meeting today, June 24th, that the committee had considered and agreed to classify the qualifications of entrepreneurs for cannabis-related business.

Whether it is selling, producing, importing, or exporting, the entrepreneurs must be of Thai nationality, reside in Thailand, and not less than 20 years of age. They must be physically and mentally healthy and not a bankrupt.

In legal history, they must have never been sentenced to prison for drug-related offenses except for a transitional chapter on the offense of cannabis and hemp in the past. The released prisoners who had been arrested for drug charges can start the business if they were released for at least 3 years.

In case of the juristic person, the representatives of the juristic person must be Thai and at least two-thirds of shareholders/directors must be of Thai nationality and has an office in Thailand.
