Nearly 200 customers detained, 65 arrested for alleged drug abuse at Bangkok entertainment venue

Bangkok –

  Nearly 200 customers were detained and 63 of them were found positive for illegal drugs at a local entertainment venue allegedly open past the legal closing time of midnight in the Bang Khun Thian district of Bangkok in the early hours of this morning, June 12th.

Upon the raid at around 12:50 AM., about 195 customers, including 94 men and 101 women, were found at the venue. All of them were taken for a urine drug test after a number of narcotic drugs were also discovered at the scene, namely 41 bags of ketamine, 20 ecstasy tablets, and 12 bags of crystal methamphetamine.

Of that, 63 customers were found positive for illegal drugs, and two of them were captured having 3 bags of ketamine in possession. All of them were taken to the Bang Khun Thian Police Station for daily records and legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, the entertainment venue owner, who was only identified as Komsan, was initially charged for opening the venue without permission and failing to comply with BMA’s order regarding the closing hours according to the Communicable Diseases Act.

He was also charged with providing alcohol serving in the facility later than midnight and allowing congested activities in the venues which could spread Covid-19.
