The Department of Disease Control today, May 25th, has started setting up health checkpoints at international airports nationwide to conduct monkeypox screening among all arrivals entering the country.
Director-General Dr.Opas Karnkawinpong told the Associated Press that initial screening for monkeypox infections was conducted through Thailand Pass registration which would help detect risk groups faster and effectively prevent the spread of the disease in the country.
The Department would also conduct domestic disease surveillance among people traveling from high-risk countries, especially from Central African and European countries where several cases were reported, as symptoms may be shown among the groups while traveling within Thailand.
The criteria of disease investigation include 1. A fever (body temperature of 38 degrees celsius or higher) or a history of fever with either sore throat, headache, muscle pain, back pain, or swollen lymph nodes; 2. skin rashes 3. traveling from or living in countries where reports of monkeypox outbreaks were found within 21 days.
