Sri Racha, Chonburi —

A 40-year-old man who went missing for a week was found dead floating near a sewer in Sri Racha. The victim reportedly suffered from alcohol withdrawal.

At 7.30 a.m. today, May 24, POL. COL. Sakchai Suwannukul, the Sri Racha Police Station superintendent, was notified of a body discovered near a sewer in the Koh Loy Park located in the Sri Racha municipality, Sri Racha sub-district, Sri Racha, Chonburi.

Thiphawan Chieng-ek, 40, who was the first person to find the body, led police and social workers to the scene. The victim was identified later as Yuan Thongtha, 40. His body sustained no wounds and he was anticipated to be dead for one day.

According to Thiphawan, the victim previously rushed to her for help around 11 a.m. a week ago, saying that someone was following him. She let the victim into her property and later found that the victim had vanished until she found him dead floating in the sewer today. Thiphawan noted that the victim was acting as if he was going through a drug withdrawal on the day she last saw him.

Wilaiwan Balo, a 58-year-old female relative of the deceased, said that she had been looking for him for several days. The victim was an alcoholic, not a drug addict, and he attempted to quit, but he then struggled from a withdrawal and went missing.

Initially, police transferred the body to the Laem Chabang Hospital for a preliminary autopsy.
