Sri Racha residents pleads with police to catch a drain cap thief

Sri Racha —

Sri Racha locals reached out to The Pattaya News this morning, May 19th, about a drain cap thief operating in the Nong Kham area.

Ms. Orathai Kaewthong, a 37-year-old local grocery store owner, contacted The Pattaya News about a drain cap thief operating around Soi Kamnan Moo, Nong Kham sub-district, Sri Racha, Chonburi. According to the CCTV footage, the suspect appeared to be riding a freight tricycle and stole a metal drain cap in front of her store at around 4:00 a.m. on May 18th and then fled.

Ms. Orathai told The Pattaya News that she woke up to find her drain cap missing, so she reviewed the CCTV footage and found the culprit. She suspected scavengers in Nong Kham of committing the deed. The caps are reportedly worth a decent amount of cash at some scrap yards and due to a still difficult economy stemming from two years of Covid-19 restrictions, many people were resorting to petty theft in Sri Racha.

Additionally, Ms. Orathai petitioned Nong Kham police to capture the suspect immediately because somebody might get injured from tripping.
