Thailand announces 21,931 daily Covid-19 infections with 129 additional deaths today

Thailand reported a total of 21,931 daily Covid-19 infections with 129 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 21st.

The fatalities were 69 men, and 60 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 10. 126 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a American, British, and Myanmar national. The age range was between 1 and 99 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (11), kidney disease (33), obesity (11), stroke (18), and heart disease (18). Eight of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 21,732 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 55 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 29 were from prisons, and the remaining 115 were imported cases.

A number of 188,926 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,021 patients are in critical condition including 885 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.06 percent of cases that are critical while 43.7 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,907, followed by Khon Kaen with 996, Chonburi with 798, Samut Prakan with 775, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 638, and Si Saket with 635.

A total number of 128,459 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 21,533 people had received their first shots, 45,539 people had received their second shots, and 61,387 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 80.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 73.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 36.1% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 24,619 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 4,106,230 cases with 3,889,912 recoveries and a total of 27,392 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
