Chonburi –

A 58-year-old worker at a cassava field died of suspected heat stroke this afternoon.

Today, April 21st, in the mid-afternoon, Pol.Lt. Thitirat Penglam from the Phanat Nikhom police received a notification of a man who lost consciousness in a cassava field at Ban Din Rai, Narek sub-district, Phanat Nikhom District, Chonburi, and went to the scene with a rescue team.

There, a group of villagers was crowding Seree Hiranrat, a 58-year-old field worker who was lying unconsciously on his back in the middle of a cassava field, wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt and dark trousers. The rescuers tried to revive him but failed. They also found a running tractor not far away from the scene.

His co-worker, Kanda Boonthes, told TPN reporters that she was mowing grass nearby and found his tractor still running with no one around it, so she went to check and found the victim lying completely motionless.

She tried to awaken Seree by pouring water on his head, but he did not wake up, so she called for help by contacting local police officers.
Police suspected that the man died of a heat stroke due to sun exposure and his overall health conditions. As for now, his body was transferred for further autopsy.
