Bangkok, Thailand-
A language school wants underprivileged Thai children to reach for the stars through a free educational program to teach them astronomy.
Progressive Language Arts Co., Ltd is appealing for donations so that it can buy a telescope for the scheme.
“This is important to us because we believe in enabling tomorrow’s leaders through educational programs that we offer for free,” said chief executive Sarisa Raktham.
“We will of course provide photos and videos to all sponsors of the development of the program. Anyone who directly funds a telescope will have the observatory named in their honor or their company’s honor.”
The purchase price will range from 61,000 baht to 132,000 baht depending on the quality and range of the telescope. Donations can be made via the Weeboon site.
Progressive Language Arts (www.progressivelanguagearts.com) is based in Soi On Nut 70/1 in Bangkok’s Prawet district.
It raised 45,000 baht at Christmas to give festive gifts and food packs to 100 children in the capital under its Gifts for Kids scheme. The scheme will be extended to Pattaya next Christmas.
Sarisa launched Progressive Language Arts in February 2020 with her American partner Chris Kayne.
The school teaches conversational and business English and Thai to students ranging from preschool to executives. Most are Thai children aged 4-12. The school also has some corporate customers.
