Thailand reported a total of 17,775 daily Covid-19 infections with 128 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 17th.
The fatalities were 72 men, and 56 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 11. 126 of them were Thai nationals, one was a Myanmar national, and one was unidentified. The age range was between 3 months and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (7), kidney disease (23), obesity (6), stroke (18), and heart disease (19). 21 of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 17,607 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), one was from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 85 were from prisons, and the remaining 82 were imported cases.
A number of 214,554 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,079 patients are in critical condition including 911 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.96 percent of cases that are critical while 43.81 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,168, followed by Chonburi with 654, Khon Kaen with 641, Samut Prakan with 552, Nonthaburi with 538, and Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 464.
A total number of 19,811 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 3,322 people had received their first shots, 2,360 people had received their second shots, and 14,129 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 80.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 35.9% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 24,545 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 4,029,959 cases with 3,788,523 recoveries and a total of 26,882 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
