Chonburi announces 736 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and five new deaths

Highlights:

  • 736 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 2,974 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.
  • 1,116 (PCR) and 6,634 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care
  • Five new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 736 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with five new deaths, on April 15th, 2022.

This makes a total of 94,928 cases (PCR) and 240,406 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 10,315 (PCR) and 48,636 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 198 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,116 (PCR) and 6,634 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 84,415 (PCR) and 191,770 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
Eight people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or with pneumonia. Four of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic at 99.589 percent.
The five new deaths were aged 61, 67, 71, 79, and 84 with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. Two of them were not vaccinated.
In total, 2,059,033 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 88.41 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 308,261 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 83.33 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
977,723 people have received their triple dose which is 41.98 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 175,250 are 608 groups which are 47.37 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
The district-level new cases were as follows today:
Mueang Chonburi 121, Sri Racha 200, Banglamung (Pattaya) 193, Panat Nikhom 13, Sattahip 81, Ban Bueng 26, Phan Thong 40, ฺBor Thong 2, Ko Chan 5, Nong Yai 3, and 52 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

  1. Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 44 case
  2. Cluster, Essilor Optical Laboratory company in Phan Thong, 4 cases
  3. Risky occupations meeting many people, 25 cases
  4. 17 medical personnel
  5. 4 back from other provinces in Udon Thani (2), Bangkok (1) and Mahasarakram (1)
  6. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 200 cases, in workplaces –59 cases, and 59 close personal contacts
  7. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 4 cases
  8. 320 cases of close contacts with a confirmed patient (under investigation)
