Bangkok –

Three suspects were arrested by the Royal Thai Police for allegedly being involved in a bomb-throwing incident at the First Infantry Regiment where the Prime Minister’s military residence was located on April 11th.

Around 7:50 PM. on Sunday, footage from the Infantry Regiment captured two men riding a motorcycle arriving at the front gate and the pillion rider appeared to be throwing two ping pong bombs into the regiment.

According to the Royal Thai Police senior officials, the suspects were Mr. Thanayut “Book” Na Ayudhaya, a 21-year-old teenager with a history of participating in pro-democracy demonstrations; Miss Patima Fakthong, 20, from Udon Thani province; and a 15-year-old juvenile. The police believed that there were four others involved in the incident and further investigations would be conducted by Bang Sue police.

As of today, the police had captured and searched Thanayut’s house where about 172 ping pong bombs and 23 smoke bombs were found. He reportedly told the officials during the initial interrogation that he was not the one who had hurled the bombs yesterday and was innocent.

Meanwhile, a Government spokesperson told the Associated Press that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha had acknowledged the incident and had no comments or any orders, only asked the police to investigate under legal proceedings.
