Ban Bueng –
A female motorbike driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after she was run over by a truck in the Ban Bueng district.
The Ban Bueng Police were notified of the accident over the past weekend at the Ban Bueng-Pattana Intersection.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Ms. Jantaras Memak, 47. Nearby, response teams found the damaged motorbike and a helmet lying on the pavement. It was unclear if the helmet was being worn by Jantaras during the accident and came off or if the helmet had been unused.
The truck involved in the accident was on the side of the road with the driver, Mr. Chanaphon, 50, waiting uninjured at the scene. His last name was not provided to TPN reporters.
Chanaphon told Ban Bueng police, “The motorbike driver (Jantaras) immediately changed her lane in front of my truck. I was unable to stop before crashing into her and tragically running her over.”
A witness, Mr. Wichan Kangwanlertpanya, appeared to confirm Chanaphon’s statement and told TPN reporters, “The motorbike driver (Jantaras) immediately changed her lane without warning or using signal lights before being run over.”
Ban Bueng police are continuing their investigation but as of press time had not filed legal charges.
