Chonburi announces 1,290 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and eight new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,290 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 5,123 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.

  • 1,454 (PCR) and 8,386 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Eight new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,290 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with eight new deaths, April 10th, 2022.

This makes a total of 90,350 cases (PCR) and 221,293 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,623 (PCR) and 62,890 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 178 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,454 (PCR) and 8,386 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 77,549 (PCR) and 158,403 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

14 people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or with pneumonia. Two of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases, at 99.683 percent, are mild or asymptomatic.

The eight new deaths today were 5, 55, 70, 76, 81, 88, and 90 years old with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. Seven of them were vaccinated.

In total, 2,056,288 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine which is 88.29 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 308,047 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 83.27 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

970,979 people have received their triple dose which is 41.69 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 173,693 are 608 groups which are 46.95 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 214, Si Racha 379, Banglamung (Pattaya) 307, Panat Nikhom 10, Sattahip 148, Ban Bueng 46, Phan Thong 58, Bor Thong 8, Ko Chan 7, Nong Yai 7, Ko Si Chang 1, and 105 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

  5. 29 medical personnel
  6. 5 back from other provinces from Chanthaburi (2), Bangkok (1), Samut Prakan (1), and Samut Songkram (1)
  7. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 283 cases, in workplaces –88 cases, close personal contacts – 65 cases, and in joint parties – 5 cases
  8. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 38 cases
  9. 636 cases of close contact with a confirmed patient (under investigation)
