Thailand reported a total of 26,081 daily Covid-19 infections with 91 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 7th.
The fatalities were 56 men and 35 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 12. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 23 and 102 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), kidney disease (31), obesity (4), stroke (10), and heart disease (9). Seven of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 25,675 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 246 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 79 were from prisons, and the remaining 81 were imported cases.
A number of 248,057 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,846 patients are in critical condition including 774 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.74 percent of cases that are critical while 41.92 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,926, followed by Chonburi with 1,542, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,059, Khon Kaen with 936, Samut Prakan with 879, and Samut Sakhon with 753.
A total number of 291,056 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 45,422 people had received their first shots, 32,180 people had received their second shots, and 213,454 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 80.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 35.1% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 26,011 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,807,908 cases with 3,534,063 recoveries and a total of 25,788 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
