Thailand reported a total of 21,088 daily Covid-19 infections with 91 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 5th.
The fatalities were 46 men and 45 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 17. 90 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 5 months and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), kidney disease (21), obesity (8), stroke (12), and heart disease (14). 10 of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 20,710 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 261 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 24 were from prisons, and the remaining 93 were imported cases.
A number of 250,145 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,862 patients are in critical condition including 781 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.74 percent of cases that are critical while 41.9 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,286, followed by Chonburi with 1,076, Nonthaburi with 925, Samut Prakan with 884, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 679, and Samut Sakhon with 629.
A total number of 59,606 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 13,480 people had received their first shots, 8,757 people had received their second shots, and 37,369 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 80.1% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 34.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 27,519 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,757,575 cases with 3,481,827 recoveries and a total of 25,603 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
