RECAP: Thailand announces 28,029 daily Covid-19 infections with 96 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 28,029 daily Covid-19 infections with 96 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, April 2nd.

The fatalities were 61 men and 35 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 13. 95 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 26 and 105 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (7), kidney disease (18), obesity (5), stroke (14), and heart disease (17). Seven of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 27,501 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 413 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 79 were from prisons, and the remaining 36 were imported cases.

A number of 255,795 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,828 patients are in critical condition including 735 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.71 percent of cases that are critical while 40.20 percent of that are critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,373, followed by Chonburi with 1,507, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,128, Samut Sakhon with 936, Samut Prakan with 930, and Songkhla with 762.

A total number of 325,326 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 85,235 people had received their first shots, 37,720 people had received their second shots, and 202,371 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 80.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.4% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 34.4% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 23,352 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,684,755 cases with 3,403,642 recoveries and a total of 25,318 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
