Chonburi announces 1,352 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and two new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,352 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 8,302 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.

  • 1,420 (PCR) and 5,409 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Two new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,352 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with four new deaths, April 1st, 2022.

This makes a total of 78,539 cases (PCR) and 165,988 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,693 (PCR) and 68,707 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 144 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,420 (PCR) and 5,409 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 65,702 (PCR) and 97,281 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Seven people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or with pneumonia. Three of them had received two doses of vaccination and the other four were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases, at 99.705 percent, are mild or asymptomatic.

The two new deaths were 73 and 90 years old with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. One of them received full vaccination and the other was not vaccinated.

In total, 2,046,408 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine which is 87.86 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 307,282 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 83.06 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

943,958 people have received their triple dose which is 40.53 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 166,544 are 608 groups which is 45.02 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 202, Si Racha 432, Banglamung (Pattaya) 350, Panat Nikhom 14, Sattahip 87, Ban Bueng 97, Phan Thong 68, Bor Thong 7, Ko Chan 6, Nong Yai 2, Ko Si Chang 3, and 84 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

  6. 3 back from other provinces from Bangkok (1), Kanchanaburi (1), and Chachoengsao (1)
  7. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 335 cases, in workplaces –74 cases, close personal contacts – 79 cases, and in joint parties – 3 cases
  8. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 58 cases
  9. 642 cases of close contact with a confirmed patient (under investigation)
