Large fire breaks out at Prachinburi Market, damaging 30 local shops and property, damage estimated at more than a hundred million baht

Prachinburi –

  A fire broke out at a Prachinburi Town Municipality Market yesterday evening, March 29th, destroying properties of more than a hundred million baht, according to relevant agencies familiar with the incident.

Officials arrived at the scene after being alerted of the incident around 5:00PM. Upon arrival, the market building, which was mostly structured with wood, was found on fire. Gas tank explosions were also heard periodically.

The fire continued to expand to larger areas nearby and across the street due to the strong wind. About 30-40 fire trucks and officials were deployed after the fire continued to break out for hours. The fire was gradually put out as of 8:00 PM. More than 30 stores and shops, including a pharmacy, were reportedly damaged with worth more than a 100 million baht, according to the officials.

During the extinguishment, volunteers also rushed to rescue seven bedridden patients who were living near the incident. Local residents were evacuated and provided with a temporary shelter. No injuries and deaths were reported.
