Chonburi announces 1,293 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and one new death

Highlights:

  • 1,293 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 6,528 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.

  • 1,262 (PCR) and 5,007 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • One new death

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,293 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with one new death, March 27th, 2022.

This makes a total of 72,011 cases (PCR) and 128,897 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,675 (PCR) and 5,007 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 130 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,262 (PCR) and 5,007 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 59,296 (PCR) and 74,721 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Two people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. One had received two doses of vaccination and one had received a single vaccination. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases, at 99.628 percent, are mild or asymptomatic.

The new death was a 71-year-old patient with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. They were not vaccinated.

In total, 2,035,501 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 87.40 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 306,800 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.93 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

926,961 people have received their triple dose which is 39.80 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 161,322 are 608 groups which is 43.31 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 216, Si Racha 360, Banglamung (Pattaya) 301, Panat Nikhom 13, Sattahip 137, Ban Bueng 44, Phan Thong 66, Bor Thong 11, Ko Chan 4, Nong Yai 10, and 131 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

  3. Risky occupations meeting many people, 30 cases

  5. 5 back from other provinces from Chanthaburi (1) Pathum Thani (1), Roi Et (1), and Si Saket (1)
  6. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 334 cases, in workplaces –58 cases, and close personal contacts – 55 cases.
  7. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 36 cases
  8. 620 cases of close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
