Pattaya guest house reception staff falls asleep overnight, says thief stole 160,000 baht in valuables from lobby

Bang Lamung, Chonburi

A sleepy rental room/guest house staff member reported to the Pattaya police of a burglary in the Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The culprit is, as of now, still on the loose.

Yesterday, March 20th, Ms. Pimphaka Hemla, a 49-year-old rental room staff member, provided local media with security camera footage of a burglary at her workplace which happened three days before in the second road area (March 17th).

In the footage, a tall man wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black trousers, and sandals was roaming at the front of the lodging before entering through the front door, grabbing 54,870 Baht, gold necklaces, and rings from around the lobby and front desk office, and casually fled the scene. According to Ms. Pimphaka’s statement, the total worth of stolen properties was 160,000 Baht.

At the time of the incident, Ms. Pimphaka admitted that she had fallen asleep at the reception counter while the culprit was pretending to rummage through the garbage can out front and then eventually seemed to confirm she was asleep and robbed the lobby area.

Initially, a Pattaya investigator came to inspect the crime scene and attempted to track down the culprit through the given security camera footage to prevent a similar potential burglary from happening. However, the culprit is still on the loose as of press time.
