Chonburi announces 1,191 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and three new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,191 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 4,732 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.

  • 978 (PCR) and 2,924 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Three new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,191 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with three new deaths, March 20th, 2022.

This makes a total of 63,000 cases (PCR) and 87,408 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,115 (PCR) and 38,084 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 113 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 978 (PCR) and 2,924 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 50,772 (PCR) and 49,324 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Two people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. Both were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases, at 99.606 percent, are mild or asymptomatic.

Three new deaths were 70, 72, and 80 years old with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. All of them were not vaccinated.

In total, 2,020,118 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 86.73 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 306,284 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.79 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

903,640 people have received their triple dose which is 38.80 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 156,236 are 608 groups which is 42.23 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 159, Si Racha 402, Banglamung (Pattaya) 273, Panat Nikhom 8, Sattahip 116, Ban Bueng 44, Phan Thong 56, Bor Thong 9, Ko Chan 10, Nong Yai 9, and 105 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

  3. Risky occupations meeting many people, 27 cases
  4. 45 medical personnel
  5. 5 back from other provinces from Bangkok (1) Ayutthaya (1), Rayong (1), Surat Thani (1), and Chachoengsao (1)
  6. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 227 cases, in workplaces –95 cases, and close personal contacts – 36 cases.
  7. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 69 cases
  8. 590 cases of close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
