Thailand reported a total of 27,071 daily Covid-19 infections with 80 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 18th.
The fatalities were 39 men and 41 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 14. 78 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a British and Myanmar national. The age range was between 30 and 101 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (7), kidney disease (16), obesity (7), stroke (13), and heart disease (11). 15 of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 26,826 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 93 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 103 were from prisons, and the remaining 49 were imported cases.
A number of 230,603 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,391 patients are in critical condition including 511 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.60 percent of cases that are critical while 36.7 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,252, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,717, Chonburi with 1,256, Samut Prakan with 976, Samut Sakhon with 942, and Ayutthaya with 677.
A total number of 186,612 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 72,486 people had received their first shots, 19,039 people had received their second shots, and 95,087 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 78.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 31.7% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 21,522 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,303,169 cases with 3,048,491 recoveries and a total of 24,075 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
